Van Gogh’s Works Come ‘Off the Wall’ onto Popular Shoe Brand
In a surprising meeting of minds, skate fashion giant Vans announced an upcoming partnership with the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam to bring some of the illustrious painter’s greatest works back into the public eye.
Launching worldwide this Friday, the collection features five of Van Gogh’s works, “Skull,” “Almond Blossom,” “Sunflowers,” “Old Vineyard with Peasant Woman” and Van Gogh’s self-portrait. The Vans x Van Gogh Museum collection features the legendary pieces of art lovingly recreated on some of Vans’ most recognizable designs, including: The Classic and The Authentic, alongside a collection of outerwear and accessories.
“We are delighted with the Vans x Van Gogh Museum collection, as it ties in with our mission to make the life and work of Vincent van Gogh accessible to as many people as possible in order to enrich and inspire them,” Van Gogh Museum Managing Director Adriaan Dönszelmann said. “By uniting Van Gogh’s iconic artworks with iconic Vans styles, our partnership brings Vincent’s art ‘Off The Wall’ and into the world to a new audience outside the museum.”
A portion of each sale will be put toward the preservation of Van Gogh’s works, so they can be enjoyed by generations of art lovers to come.
